Fun!

I checked out reviews for this place AFTER I had booked 3 rooms for my friends and I have to admit I was worried! BUT it was a great choice especially for the price ($50 a night). Yes, the Happy Hour drinks were served in a little cup but the bartenders were awesome and hooked up the drinks. Our crew made sure that we got our tips worth within that hour. Whitelaw became the meeting spot for all of us and those who had stayed at other hotels were impressed with the free happy hour and our crazy but cute hotel room. Sheets were comfy, Ipod docking station and flat screen TV was great! The shuttle picked us up on time and got us all to the airport on time. Yes, their was a bit of key drama but that was because every time you get a new key from the front desk it changes the key code so anyone else who has another key can’t get in. It’s a bit annoying if you’re sharing the room BUT I guess it’s for our safety. I stayed in room 8 (first floor) was great but my cousins room across from us (maybe 7?) smelled musty. The cleaning staff was great but ask for extra towels since the shower can get slippery. Overall, I would definitely stay at The Whitelaw Hotel again. I had such a fun experience!

Loved the location

The Whitelaw has a fairly good atmosphere..nice and funky. The room was not as big as expected, but the it was different and had a nice flat tv.
It has a very good location, in between Ocean and Washington, in between restaurants and clubs. The lobby is cool and has good music.

Some of the staff were nice and courteous, others did not just care about one.

I encountered a couple of issues: bath towels were removed off the room everyday. I had to go down the stairs every single time I wanted to take a shower.

The remote control was not working and none one replaced it for me, so I stood up by the tv zapping channels. The key card got uncoded almost all the time…and others..(I might add that they dont provide a reserved space for me to park on the street, just the valet service charging 30 bucks)

Other than that, one manager told me he was going to fix all of that and give me an upgrade…which he didn`t. No even wrote a note in the log. The second manager (Mauricio) removed a service fee (which I was not told I had BTW) and offered me lower rate and a free night.

it was good

the most friendliest set i have ever met and i didnt feel i was alone there.

i recommend this hotel to anyone whether its business, pleasure or whatever u go on holiday for, whitelaw is the place to stay.

i give the the full 5 stars..thanks guys for making this trip even better.

2nd visit

I believe in karma and if you treat people well they will go out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. I have stayed at the Whitelaw twice and both of my stays went very well. The staff are friendly and are willing to provide the services they have available to them. The housekeeping staff are also very friendly and go out of their way to give you what you need. The location of course is perfect for a short visit and you are able to walk to everything. If you compare hotel pricing the Whitelaw would be your most cost effective choice !

Good Hotel for the Price

I traveled with friends and stayed at the whitelaw. i was pleased with the hotel and the location was great. The hotel atmosphere was fun and exciting with their vibrant colors and art work. the rooms were small but nice with the plasma and updated bathroom. I would definetly visit this hotel again and the price was awesome!!!!

Location, Location, Location

Funky rooms, open bar happy hour from 7-8 every day and the best location at 8th collins, a short stroll to the beach.

After reading all of the reviews I had a few misgivings. Yes, the building is not in the best shape, yes much of the staff could care less (one front desk person didn’t know what a ‘concierge’ was) and yes, much of the common areas could use a touch up but this is SOUTH BEACH and if you can get a great deal and can be close to the beach it’s all worthwhile.

We paid an unbelievably low rate for 8 days (less than $65 a night) and were very pleased with our 3rd floor room. The cleaning ladies don’t do much but the free internet, large screen tv and daily open bar are nice touches. Cons include rickety, uneven floors in hallway, tacky graffiti (supposed to be stylish) on the walls and a a disgusting common bathroom under lobby

Customer service is a real problem at the Whitelaw. The SouthBeach group should really clean house – with the exception of Yafite who’s an absloute joy – as the staff borders on disinterested to downright rude. Customer Service is practically non-existent at the Whitelaw and the management is obviously not doing their job. One reason I would reconsider coming back.

Seniors stay away but if you’re looking to party in a funky hotel with a great location this is an excellent bet. A block from the beach and with a good price, it’s hard to beat the Whitelaw’s value (despite a few fixable problems!).

Nice front desk staff…

Wasn’t as bad as expect after reading the views. Mind you I read the remarks after i booked the hotel and a few days b4 i arrived. Gets a bit noise in lobby due to loud music, but enjoyed happy hour. Friendly front desk staff Ean, made great club recommendations, directions as needed and provided all of our dinner reservations. Cheers! UK!!

Loved the location

The hotel was ok, perfect location if you are a beach person. The staff was very friendly and the service was good.

Great Choice for Budget Vacation

After reading some of the reviews I was worried about the hotel. When we arrived at the hotel we found our room was small, but clean and the service was good. The location is great, very close to the beach. The hotel does offer a nightly free happy hour from 7-8. Do not hesitate to stay here!!!!
